Wide Field Camera (WFCAM)
WFCAM is the world's most powerful infrared survey camera. It has the largest field of view of any astronomical infrared camera in the world. In a single exposure it can image an area of the sky equal to that of the full moon. WFCAM was commissioned on UKIRT in 2004.
Visible and Infra-red Survey Telescope for Astronomy (VISTA)
VISTA has the world's largest field of view for an infra-red telescope. It is a 4m telescope, designed for conducting rapid sky surveys in the infra-red. It is located at ESO's Cerro Paranal Observatory in Chile, and is currently being commissioned.
Sub millimetre Common-User Bolometer Array – 2 (SCUBA-2)
SCUBA-2 is the world’s largest field sub millimetre camera. With over 10,000 pixels, and superior sensitivity, SCUBA-2 will be able to make measurements in the sub millimetre region with unparalleled accuracy and speed. SCUBA-2 is currently being commissioned on the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope in Hawaii.
